With the object of a multicultural preschool with children from more than 20 countries around the world, making Chung cake becomes a meaningful and profound traditional cultural experience for the children.
This is an exciting activity. Vietnamese children tell their foreign friends about their Tet memories with their families, and teachers will share short stories about Chung cake and other well-known customs and traditions of the Vietnamese people.
In the days surrounding Tet, tiny hands carefully arrange leaves, pour rice, and add beans; alert and joyful eyes create a cozy and peaceful scene in the small preschool AMI.
The children will be supported by the kitchen staff in boiling the cakes once they have finished wrapping them, and they are able to bring them home to enjoy and show off to their parents.
Customary events such as this will be invaluable for children on their journey to become global citizens, since they create a multicultural environment where they may interact with people from all over the world from their earliest years. Furthermore, the activity allows international children in particular get a deeper understanding of Vietnamese culture, as well as the lovely nation they call home and go to with their family.
